Road to Damascus: Arab Believers Risk Death for Faith

What happens when a Muslim comes to Christ in the Middle East? Many fear persecution so they keep their Christian faith a secret.

Others, like evangelist "Rasim," boldly profess their faith and suffer dire consequences as a result.

There are dangers but also blessings of embracing and sharing the Gospel in a very distressed region of the world.

Signs and Wonders

Many Muslims throughout the Middle East are coming to Christ through signs and wonders like those performed by Paul and Barnabas in the Book of Acts.

The road to Damascus is where the Apostle Paul walked and stopped at the home of Ananias where he was baptized. And that was the start of an incredible ministry that has changed the world. Today in Syria, other evangelists are following in his footsteps.

One evangelist named Rasim shares his faith in a mosque with the imam. He gave the Islamic priest a copy of the Bible and the Jesus film.

"I told him if you read the Bible, you'll believe and your mind will be changed -- the Lord is God and he died for you," Rasim said. "He took the Bible and he said, 'maybe.'"

Several Christians joined Rasim in the mosque and prayed for an elderly Muslim man named Bakram. He could barely walk because he had broken his knee and it had not healed properly.

"Bakram was healed and he started dancing and was very happy," Rasim said. "Hallelujah! There's a miracle in the mosque!"

Safety is a Concern

Like the secret Muslim converts and other Christians, Rasim's safety is at risk. While he is often afraid when he approaches a mosque, he said he feels the peace of God once he steps through the door in faith.

And because he courageously pushes forward, the knees of a Bedouin woman were also healed recently when Rasim paid a visit to her home.

"We have fear, but Jesus is with us -- Emmanuel is with us," Rasim said. "Jesus said, 'I am with you forever' and we need to go to the mosques and everywhere to tell people the truth about Him and His love."

Christians Killed in Egypt

Believers like Rasim have good cause to fear. It is hard to be a Christian in a Muslim-dominated society, especially in Egypt where Christians were murdered in the streets earlier this year near the city of Luxor.

"In November 2008 there was actually an attack of 3,000 people on a church in Cairo where they had attempted to burn it," said Caroline Doss of the American Coptic Federation. "And the attack can actually be viewed online on You Tube. You haven't heard anything about an arrest or a prosecution...That's sending a clear message to the Egyptian population that this is acceptable behavior."

It is life-threatening behavior that mainly targets converts from Islam.

Egyptian Mohammed Hegazy his family are in hiding -- running for their lives. That is because he has several fatwas -- official Islamic pronouncements of death against him because he became a Christian and then fought a legal battle to gain the right to change his religion on his national ID card.

"If you don't have the right or freedom to choose your own belief, what rights do you have," Hegazy asked. "What freedom do you have? I am not afraid because I believe in Christ.

Hegazy said he was jailed and tortured by Egyptian state security agents who wanted him to return to Islam.

"They hanged me upside down by my feet and beat me repeatedly," he said. "They used to torture us with electricity on many parts of our bodies and especially on the genitals."

Conversion Kept Secret

Hegazy suffered because he publicly professed his faith. Converts from Islam often try to keep their Christianity a secret in Muslim countries. But many are eventually found out by family members and others.

"I was very worried a rock would hit one of my children or my wife," said Asif, a former Palestinian Muslim who was attacked by militant Muslims. "Thank God the rock hit me instead."

Asif's leg was broken and surgery was required. A steel rod was placed in his shattered leg. He endures ongoing threats and pain, still Asif said he will never return to Islam.

"I can't play back and forth...faith is not a game," he said. "Honestly my life has changed. I am a happier person, a better person. I have a new life now."

Compelled to Share Their Faith

Despite the risks, some bold Middle Eastern Christians feel compelled to share their faith with Muslims and other people.

Several years ago, an Iraqi Christian under the alias of Hassan, started a church in Mosul. The body of believers grew from several people to 60 in about five months.

One day a gunman in a passing vehicle shot Hassan. Doctors said he suffered a spinal cord injury and would never walk again.

Hassan continues to share Christ with others, but today he does it from a wheelchair in Lebanon. His paralysis has caused many difficulties, but also opportunities.

"When I witness to people about Christ, they know that I really mean what I say unto death," Hassan said. "Of course living for Christ in Iraq is not easy for anybody...despite this difficult situation the salvation of souls is taking place in big numbers among masses in Iraq."

Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.

This morning at Worship Service we sang this chorus below and God spoke to me.... (God spoke to me so much this morning, I don't know how Pastor got a word in edgewise... lol)

The Chorus went like this

"Where the Spirit of the Lord is there is Freedom"
"Where the Spirit of the Lord is there is Healing"
"Where the Spirit of the Lord is there is Hope"

"The Blood is enough to break every chain"

The Holy Spirit reminded me that
America has been pushing out the Spirit of the Lord and  replacing it with all kinds of spiritual wickedness, from the worship or gold and silver, worship of pornography, worship of self, baby sacrifice (abortion) etc. and as a result the government is forcing more and more regulations on us and we have less freedoms.....

The Spirit of the Lord is being replace by a spirit of hate and division and instead of Healing and Understanding between America's Black, White, Rich, Poor we have hate and violence

The Spirit of the Lord is being driven out of our nation which used to represent Hope now is being replaced with the spirit of greed, fear and desperation.

The Blood of Jesus that is enough to break every chain has been replaced in the pulpit with legalism, seeker friendly and a politically correct gospel and now America wears the chains of addictions, diseases, mental oppression greater than ever.

We need the Spirit of the Lord in America and the Blood of Jesus to bring back Freedom,  Healing and Hope!

Where the Spirit of the Lord is there is Healing

The Blood is enough to Break Every Chain

Where the Spirit of the Lord is there is Freedom......

Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.

A Word for the Remnant

A Word to the Remnant~

Today at the end of worship service the Spirit of God was very strong and the Spirit of God spoke very clear to me.  Just to be  clear, I know God has spoke to me  the past but I always doubt that it was really God even when later I found out it was by confirmation.  However today I never doubted it and even though I know its from God I know it will not be a Word that will be  received well from religious people or even people of God who love God and are anointed of God.

As I was worshiping and praising God, the Spirit of God said that "The Spirit of God will not be found in the big mega churches or big fancy church buildings.  The End time church will be forced underground.  He showed me that as the persecution of Christians increases Church congregations and denominations will split.  The religious will compromise with the state and the remnant will be filtered out and go underground.  The true Body of Christ will spread like wildfire under the radar of the government and those persecuting them.  We will meet house by house, or under the trees.  There will be great miracles, signs and wonders but not in big displays like the healing crusades of the past.  The Christian church will look more like Jesus' ministry and less like the Temples and Synagogues of the Old Testament.

I know this Word will not be received well by religious or even from Godly, Anointed men and women of God, but I know I was supposed to blog this, so I pray God will give the reader eye to see and ears to hear.

God kept reminding me that the Jews expected Jesus to come as a King on a white horse and yet many didn't recognize and even rejected Him when he came as a baby in a manger. This will be how it will be with the endtime church.... many will expect the glorious Church that the Bridegroom will return for will be in a huge fancy buildings, with filled pews and beautiful productions.  Remember, one of the largest churches is in China where they risk their lives to worship.  I keep thinking about the  beautiful, precious, priceless diamond that is formed due to extreme pressure.... so will it be with the Glorious Church Jesus will return for.

QUADRIPLEGIC ACTIVIST JONI EARECKSON TADA’S CHRISTIAN RADIO SHOW HITS 30-YEAR ANNIVERSARY

Joni Eareckson Tada has been journeying with radio listeners for three decades. In May, the inspirational host’s daily, five-minute program, “Joni and Friends Radio,” reached its 30th anniversary, with over 7,800 episodes to date. What once seemed impossible for the woman, who has worked feverishly to educate her listeners about people who live with disabilities, has come to fruition in a way she could have never imagined.
Tada, who once was so depressed over her own paralyzation that she considered suicide, is, today, one of the most recognizable and well-known advocates for individuals with disabilities. Her work — and her passion — are widely known.

The Christian Post shares more about the long journey that inevitably brought Tada’s thoughts and inspirational messages to millions of individuals around the world (an archive of her past shows is available here):
Tada laughed when she was first approached by the Ambassador Advertising Agency about hosting the program in 1982, because at the time she was bedridden.
“My life was confined to those four walls in that bedroom. And here they were, telling me that what God had taught me in my wheelchair, and what I had been sharing in books and speaking from various platforms…would be very valuable to listeners across the country,” Tada told The Christian Post on Thursday.
In 1967, at the age of 17, Tada became a quadriplegic after she was injured in a diving accident, but shortly after she made it her mission to help others who are affected by disabilities. Her radio program has addressed a wide-variety of topics from a biblical worldview over the years, though the topic of disability awareness is particularly close to her heart.
“I thank my Savior for the energy, breath, and the insights from His Word; and, I’m looking forward to sharing more with our listeners in the months and years to come,” Tada proclaims on her radio show’s web page.
Watch the PBS special, below, to learn more about Tada discuss her faith, disability and breast cancer struggle:
Tada views her radio program — one of the many branches of her Christian ministry — as an opportunity to be open an honest. The experience, a personal journal of sorts, provides the host with a platform that enables her to educate others, while sharing her own personal struggles and challenges.
“I’m honest to share those things on the radio, and I think people resonate with that. They like someone to confess that they’ve got a long way to go, and I’ve got a long way to go,” Tada told the Post.
And Tada has apparently done an excellent job, because earlier this year, the faithful host was inducted into the National Religious Broadcaster’s Hall of Fame — a distinct honor for Christian media personalities.

In addition to her work with the radio show, Tada also founded the Joni and Friends International Disability Center back in 1979. To this day, the organization serves as a home base for ministries that serve people with disabilities and their families. Additionally, the organization provides essentially training opportunities for various groups.
